Sometimes horses learn or are taught behaviors or movements that we do not desire, and we need to help them out. Sometimes we refer to this as 'restarting'. Other times a horse may struggle with changing what they've already learned. This might be a school horse who now has to follow a rider instead of the same repetitive cues in an arena. It might be a horse from a discipline that asks them to use their body in a detrimental way cued by the rein.
There are horses that have been punished for their actions and now expect to be reprimanded when they get scared or anxious. Then again there are older working horses that can work a cow like nothing else, but have no idea how to relate to a human being and are out of place in a new home and a new job.
Some horses have some time under their belt and are in a new home with new owners. They're being asked something different than what they've done for years.
Learn how to help a horse 'unlearn' and progress to a great athletic relationship.
