The world of horses wouldn't be complete without it's share of opinions, techniques and methods.
One place we see a plethora of these is in use of the aids: your reins, legs and seat. The missing part is always the WHY. The answers lie in a proper understanding of balance in a horse and how you can affect it - in a way that promotes softness.
Sometimes the aids produce brace, anxiety and a feeling of confinement in a horse. When these conditions exist, it is hard - if not impossible - to ask anything athletic or precise of the horse. You may have been told you need 'more leg' - the reality is that the horse is not balanced and likely bracing against the rein. Muscles that we need to be relaxed are tight.
We'll explore using how to use the aids to support the horse's mind and body together to create balance and athletic ability in your horse.
