🌿 Understand Your Horse, One Saddle at a Time

Step into a hands‑on, eye‑opening day at the ranch with Traulany Thomas of Equinox Horse Health, a respected practitioner known for her thoughtful, horse‑centred approach to wellness and biomechanics.

This one‑day workshop takes the mystery out of saddle fit and gives you the knowledge every rider must have. You’ll learn how a saddle should sit on a horse’s back, what signs of discomfort to watch for, and how proper fit supports movement, comfort, and long‑term soundness.

Whether you’re new to horses or have been riding for years, you’ll leave with practical skills, a sharper eye, and a deeper understanding of what your horse needs to feel and perform their best.

🌟 What to Expect:

📅 Itinerary for September 12

  • 9:30 AM – Welcome & Settling In
Meet at the ranch, grab a coffee, and get ready for a day of learning.
  • 10:00AM –12-12:30 PM – Theory Session
A deep dive into saddle fit principles, equine back anatomy, pressure points, movement patterns, and how to identify both good and problematic fit. Expect clear explanations, visuals, and lots of opportunities to ask questions.
  • 12-12:30 1:45 PM – Lunch Break - Lunch Provided
A relaxed hour to eat, visit, and process the morning’s information.
  • 2:00 PM–End of Day – Practical, Hands‑On Assessment
Work directly with horses and saddles to apply what you’ve learned. Traulany will guide you through evaluating fit, reading your horse’s responses, and understanding how small adjustments can make a big difference. This is where theory becomes confidence.

🌟 Why Join This Clinic?

  • Understand your horse’s body — Learn how the back actually moves, where pressure points develop, and how saddle design interacts with biomechanics.
  • Spot problems before they become injuries — Recognize early signs of discomfort, tension, or poor fit so you can protect your horse’s long‑term soundness.
  • Make confident, informed decisions — Gain the knowledge to evaluate your own saddle, ask the right questions, and choose equipment that truly supports your horse.
  • Learn hands‑on with expert guidance — Work directly with Traulany to assess real horses and saddles, turning theory into practical skill you can use immediately.

Frequently Asked Questions

🐴 Do I need to bring a horse?

No. You’re welcome to come on your own and enjoy the full day. The theory and hands‑on portions are structured so every participant can learn, observe, and ask questions without needing a horse on site.

🌾 Can I bring my horse?

Possibly. A limited number of demo horses will be used during the afternoon practical session, and the final number depends on how many participants register. If you’d like your horse to be considered as a demo, please contact Leona to discuss suitability and logistics.

🎟️ Can I use a gift certificate?

Gift certificates and clinic‑prize credits don’t apply to this workshop. Because Traulany is coming in as an external clinician, all registration fees go directly toward hosting her for the day.

📝 What should I bring?

Bring a positive attitude, an open mind, paper and pen, and any questions you’ve always wanted to ask about saddle fit. The afternoon session will include demo horses based on participant numbers. If you’re interested in offering your horse as a demo, reach out to Leona at leona@amazinghorsecountry.com for more details.
